I Missed Alexander Hamilton’s Birthday

This makes sad, given how he is the Founder of American Conservatism and all, with his boy Mitt Romney doing so well. Anyway, here is Hamilton explaining to fellow Federalists how they could better take advantage of Christianity to give their party a popular appeal and an emotional charge that it sorely lacked:

  2. John Adams has long been the favorite Founder of conservatives. See The Conservative Mind, published by Regnery.

    Many of them regarded Hamilton with suspicion because he was:

    1. a nationalist, not a states rights guy
    2. an opponent of slavery, not a Virginia planter
    3. an urbanite who chose to live in New York City
    4. a “Northerner” who chose to live in NYC
    5. he once wrote a close friend, “I hate money-making men.” Would not necessarily have been a Romney fan. AH was a self-made man; Romney is not.
